Biography
Linda Bauld is Professor of Socio-Management at the University of Stirling and the UK Centre for Tobacco Control Studies. Her research involves the evaluation of complex interventions to improve health, most notably smoking cessation and tobacco control interventions. She conducted the first study of NHS stop smoking services when they were established in 1999 and since then her research, evidence reviews and policy work have continued to inform their development.
Linda is a former scientific adviser on tobacco control to the UK government and a member of a number of public health advisory and funding committees in England and Scotland. She is currently chairing the NICE programme development group on tobacco harm reduction.
Hilary Wareing is Director of Improving Performance in Practice (iPiP) and the Tobacco Control Collaborating Centre (TCCC). She was involved with implementing smokefree legislation in England and a lead in the implementation within mental health settings. She is currently involved in reducing the prevalence of smoking in pregnancy, promoting smokefree homes, and supporting local authorities to review commissioning of services to reduce prevalence and help people quit.
Hilary is part of the CLeaR training team and a Core Assessor. A member of the Smoking in Pregnancy Challenge and Smoking in Pregnancy Communications Groups and a topic expert adviser with NICE Quality Standards.
