Biography
Maura Matthews has worked within the public health sector for over 25years, starting her career in nursing at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. She joined the third sector in November 2010, when appointed to her current post as the Health and Wellbeing Development Manager at Tenovus, a Welsh cancer charity. Her focus is on developing interventions for cancer prevention particularly around the challenges associated with adopting healthier lifestyle choices in Wales. She is a graduate of the Cardiff Metropolitan University from which she has a BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental Health and obtained her post graduate qualification in public health from the University of Cardiff.
Dr Sioned Pearce is a Research Officer at Tenovus Cancer Charity based in Cardiff, Wales. She specialises in policy-based research into poverty and deprivation using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods. Sioned has worked on a number of research projects and evaluations to investigate the impact of deprivation on health and measure effective health promotion, prevention and cancer service delivery in Wales. These studies include use of behavioural statistics, geographical mapping, and action research in communities. She has led the evaluation side of the Quit with Us project to gauge information and potential impact of the campaign for use in policy and the formulation of future health campaigns.
