Abstract
Somerset has been recognised, in the Pregnancy Challenge Group Update Report, as being a leader in developing an integrated smoking in pregnancy service through close cross-system working between the Health and Wellbeing Board, CCG, Public Health, maternity service providers and the stop smoking service. Smoking in pregnancy rates have been falling faster in Somerset than the national trend in the last few years, after being stubbornly high for many years.
In this presentation I will describe our journey, from early concerns about relatively high levels of smoking in pregnancy ascertained through SATOD returns, to achieving whole system sign up to addressing this priority, including funding, and the role of the quality premium indicator.
