Abstract
In October 2013 Leeds Healthy Living Service (Stop Smoking, Adult Weight Management & Healthy Lifestyle Services) held an event where services users (clients) and commissioners were invited to help us in developing our service delivery. Feedback from this showed that clients wanted an integrated clinic with all three services accessible in the same place at the same time.
Following further consultation we developed a drop-in pilot clinic in October 2014, and the ‘Health & Lifestyle Team’ was born. We offered stop smoking support initially, with the option of accessing further support at the same time around weight loss, physical activity, healthy eating, low level alcohol advice, or to simply get weighed. A Dietician was soon introduced to compliment the work of the Healthy Lifestyle Practitioner, due to demand.
Throughout the development of the clinic we have been engaging and building partnerships with local stakeholders, including GP practices, one-stop-shop and community projects to enable further integration within the community, and increase referrals.
So far the majority of the clients who initially attend for stop smoking support also accessed support from the Healthy Lifestyle Practitioner or Dietician. Our clients are also reporting high levels of satisfaction with the clinic.
