Abstract
North 51s Stop Smoking Service (Quit 51) transitioned the previous NHS provider service, with full TUPE of all staff and service elements in the area in April 2014. The service is commissioned to support the delivery of the service in practices and pharmacies by independently commissioned community providers through Public Health Contracts. The pharmacy quit rate in 2013/14 prior to transition was 26%.
We wanted to implement a previously tested model of pharmacy 'upgrading' with these pharmacies. We would like to present the qualitative findings from our work to improve the pharmacy service offer, and to describe the barriers and opportunities therein, before facilitating a workshop with attendees to see if (a) their experiences are similar (b) there are solutions or strategies that can be suggested or identified as proven to the identified barriers and (c) the attendees can feed back on any ideas to maximise the identified opportunities.
