Louise Ross Stop Smoking Service Manager, Leicester
Lorien Jollye
Biography
Louise Ross is the leader of the Leicester City Stop Smoking Service; previously part of Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, Stop moved to Leicester City Council in April 2015. Initially sceptical about ecigs, she has become a vocal advocate for their use as a harm reduction method, principally because she has listened to people who have used them to stop smoking, and has been utterly convinced by their sincerity. Louise is an associate of the New Nicotine Alliance UK, a charity committed to improving public health through a greater understanding of risk-reduced nicotine products.
Lorien Jollye is a founder and trustee of the New Nicotine Alliance charity. Having been a smoker for 23 years through countless ‘quit’ attempts, she switched to vaping after trying a 2nd generation e-cig in 2012. Since then she has spoken about harm reduction and vaping at many conferences so that her story, which mirrors that of so many others, is understood. Her firm view is that the voices of the smokers and vapers have been lost in the discussion and in order to reap the benefits of harm reduction engagement should be of the highest priorities.
