Abstract
The current economic climate has meant that health and social care professional’s roles have undergone significant restructuring and therefore re-focussing of resources is a central aim to ensure efficiencies are made whilst continuing to provide a high standard of support.
Within Bradford and Airedale the challenge of providing high quality advice and care is ever present as our population was ranked 32 (one being most deprived and 354 being least deprived) according to the IMD (2007). This programme demonstrates how NHS, Local Authority services and Trading Standards have joined forces locally to work with community members on the smokeless tobacco agenda.
Aim:
Raise awareness of the health impact of using smokeless tobacco amongst South Asian communities
Promote access and provide support for smokeless tobacco users wanting support to stop
Outcomes:
Engagement with a broad range of partner agencies and community groups to raise awareness of the health risks of smokeless tobacco
Explore the development of a support service for smokeless tobacco users
Promote access and provide support for smokeless tobacco users wanting support to stop
