Abstract
After 6 full years of the GGandC Pharmacy service, 2009 has been the most successful, beating even the special smoking ban year of 2006. The service makes a very significant contribution towards the Health Board’s requirement to meet the targets for 4-week quitters set by the Scottish Government and also follows Health Board policy in making a priority of providing the service in the most deprived areas, as defined by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation. 2009 data shows that policy has been followed with a large majority of the quits coming from the most deprived areas (even after adjustment for the high relative levels of deprivation in Greater Glasgow and Clyde). Comparisons are made between those who fail in the first week of the programme and those who fail later, and as a result, areas of change in the service are suggested or identified. Where changes are planned, these are described. (Charts available on request).
