Funding was received to develop and deliver a KHP staff stop smoking service that was accessible to all KHP employees in line with local public health priorities.
This was a huge challenge, the four organisations span across four boroughs with different commissioning structures and communication channels. All smoking staff were able to access a choice of four clinics with targeted services and communication strategies for identified priority groups including routine and manual workers. From April 2012 to November 2013 a total of 170 staff attended the KHP stop smoking service,136 set a quit date and 85 went on to quit with a 62.5% success rate.
The aim of this presentation is to highlight the innovative way in which this cross site multi organisation smoking cessation service was implemented and how we used coordinated communication strategies to raise awareness of local stop smoking services and in house clinics.
