Abstract Overview from 2007 to 2013 of the development of a service; Aaservice delivered by the healthcare staff within the prison setting in conjunction with a designated HMP prison officer. From raw beginning to a service offering successful groups to the general prison inmates and 1:1's to vulnerable prisoners by staff trained to L3.
The service is now looking to further develop support to this challenging group of clients through appropriate literature.

Presenter biography Currently Tracey is a Matron working in the healthcare unit of HMP Bedford. She qualified as a nurse in 1989 and spent 18 years working in various areas of in an acute setting. In 2007 Tracey joined the healthcare unit at HMP Bedford with a remit of developing the primary care services within the category B prison. Within the prison setting over the last 6 years Tracey has been instrumental in the advancement of a robust in house stop smoking programme with training programmes and support provided by NHS Bedfordshire (now Public Health – Bedford Borough) the local stop smoking service.
Sandra is the Stop Smoking Service Co-Ordinator for Bedford, now working under the local authority, Bedford Borough. Sandra worked for the NHS for 13.5 years starting in a GP surgery in 2000, progressing from reception through phlebotomy and on to an HCA. She moved to NHS Bedfordshire in 2009 as a Stop Smoking Specialist Advisor and continues to want o make a difference in saving lives through quitting smoking. As part of her current role Sandra liaises with Tracey to ensure the appropriate level of support is offered to both the healthcare team and subsequently the inmates of HMP Bedford.
