Abstract Our role is to provide intensive support to commissioned providers of the level 2 stop smoking service, to ensure that they meet the service specification. Our KPI require us to visit level 2 providers, record the information gathered during these visits and report it to the commissioner on a 6 monthly basis. There are 120 commissioned providers across Co Durham and Darlington and almost 400 trained level 2 advisors (intermediate advisors) who are all given the same level of intense support by a dedicated team of three stop smoking advisors. We invest over 4000 hours per year to training and supporting the level 2 service.
The level 2 services contribute to the vital signs targets and in 2011 contributed 48% of the total number of quitters for Co Durham & Darlington (having seen 8,516 people) with a quit rate of 46%.
Our role is only possible due to the dedication of the team towards forging positive working relationships with all of those who we support. We are contacted on a daily basis by intermediate advisors who require on the spot problem solving with a variety of issues from quit manager to client issues.
