Abstract
In January we introduced the ‘Youth Smoking Campaign 2008’ aimed at 12–15 year olds. This will be promoted under the campaign name of ‘Young Lungs’, and we plan to work with an established theatrical company in developing a show looking into the social effects of smoking today. We have organised for pupils from all schools around the borough to help develop this. They will sing, dance, act and produce the production themselves. This will run in conjunction with National Teen LifeCheck from the summer 2008 when the anthem for the show ‘Young Lungs’ will be performed in the new town centre.
Young Person’s Stop Smoking Groups are being held in all senior schools, in conjunction with workshops, Cycle for Change, to try and discourage young people ever starting. A Mobile Learning Centre will visit all schools and areas of high deprivation and now includes back ground about smoking related problems and health MOT’s. This will reach +5,000.
